Is it safe to get married during Corona?

Couples are searching for the perfect marriage garden, pretty dresses and performing small functions in order to tie the knot. But is it really safe? Let’s find out.

As the coronavirus outbreak spreads around the world, those planning their
weddings may be wondering whether to cancel their marriage and honeymoons.

The outbreak shows no signs of stopping any time soon: worldwide, more than 120,000 people have been infected, and more than 4,600 have died. In the United States, more than 950 cases have been reported, and flights to and from Europe suspended for a month.

To help you prepare for what you should do and help if you do, sadly, have to change plans, we spoke with experts across the industry, including travel consultants and wedding planners, to give you a closer look at how COVID-19 is affecting wedding planning right now, and how to prep for the coming months. Their overall advice? Be prepared, follow the news closely, and maintain an open conversation with your vendors and guests. Also if you can, book a planner so they can help you navigate this crazy industry and offer up options.

In the days following government pleas to engage in social distancing, you might have seen a Tweet from writer and editor Molly Tolsky suggesting that partners suddenly forced to work from home together should create an imaginary co-worker on which to blame disagreements.

This is not even close to a typical situation, which means there are a number of different roles both partners are going to have to play while they're working through the current reality," she said. "It's critically important to schedule time to sit down and talk about what your expectations are of each other during this time.

Between guests travelling, dozens, if not hundreds, of people congregating in an enclosed space and honeymoon travel plans, the coronavirus is likely to affect couples planning their wedding in a variety of ways.

Probably, very few people will want to come. It may be another instance where postponing or cancelling is necessary. But, again, if the coronavirus is already widespread by that point, it may not matter to your guests.
