Camping in Rishikesh might be the perfect vacation for some people but not me. Everybody wants to go to Leh once in their life these days. Tags like ‘Little Tibet’, ‘Moonland’, or ‘The land of llamas’ are enough to draw everyone’s attention towards Ladakh and Leh town. Leh is one of the districts in Ladakh region- a high-altitude, cold desert situated at 3,500 meters that receives very little rainfall. Leh town holds an important place in history as it was a vital stopover for the traders on the Silk Road for centuries. Ladakh, also known as Maryul or low-land, was ruled by the Namgyal dynasty for around four centuries. Leh is accessible by both road and air. Tourists can board a private car or government-run bus to reach Leh from Manali via Rohtang Pass or Srinagar through Zoji La Pass in summers (June till September).
